Exhort

Exhort: Greek - parakaleo (Strong's #3870)

[from Strong's #3844 - para - to the side of + #2564 - kaleo - to call]

To call someone forward… to exhort them to pursue some course of conduct - future looking.

Vine's contrasts it with comforting someone (which is retrospective in nature, having to do with a trial experienced), yet it is used in 2 Cor 1 of the comfort God gives us in our tribulations that we in turn can give to others. Perhaps this kind of comfort then, is helping others be forward looking, rather than dwelling on the past.

Biblical synonyms for exhort: to call near, invite, invoke, implore, exhort, beseech, intreat (entreat)

Do this: Call others forward, encouraging them toward godly courses of action. Help them look to the future, rather than the past.

Show Plainly (Warn)

Show: Greek - hupodeiknumi (Strong's #5263)

[from Strong's #5259 - hupo - under + #1166 - deiknu/numi - to show]

To show, to set something before someone's eyes - to place it under their eyes, instructing and teaching them plainly, making something known, in particular - warning of coming events

Biblical synonyms for this kind of 'show': warn, forewarn

Do this: Show - instruct - teach people what they need to know (God's Word! and how to live to please Him), particularly with a view to warning them.

Teach

Teach: Greek - didasko (Strong's #1321)

To teach - with the inherent expectation of a person learning. To instruct by word of mouth with the intent to influence the understanding of the person taught. To shape the will of the one taught by the communication of knowledge.

Biblical synonym for teach: instruct

Do This: Teach the Bible accurately to others, instructing them with the intent to influence their understanding and shape their will (toward the Lord and His ways).
