Memory Verses (NAS) - Old Testament
Genesis 4:7
If
you do well,
will not your countenance be lifted up?
And
if you do not do well,
sin
is crouching at the door;
and
its desire is for you,
but
you must master it.

Deuteronomy
6:4-7
Hear,
O Israel!
The
LORD our God, the LORD is one!
And
you shall love the LORD your God
with
all your heart
and
with all your soul
and
with all your might.
And
these words, which I am commanding you today,
shall
be on your heart;
and
you shall teach them diligently to your sons
and
shall talk of them
when
you sit in your house
and
when you walk by the way
and
when you lie down
and
when you rise up.

Joshua 1:8
This
book of the law
shall not depart from your mouth,
but
you shall meditate on it day and night,
so
that you may be careful
to do according to all that is written
in it;
for
then you will make your way prosperous,
and
then you will have success.

Ezra

to
study the law of the LORD,
and

Israel.

Job 1:21-22
And
he said,
"Naked
I came from my mother's womb,
and
naked I will return there.
The
LORD gave,
and
the LORD has taken away;
blessed
be the name of the LORD."
Through
all this
Job
did not sin
nor
did he blame God.
Job 42:2
I
know that Thou canst do all things,
and
that no purpose of Thine can be thwarted.

Psalm 1
How
blessed is the man
who
does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor
stand in the path of sinners,
nor
sit in the seat of scoffers!
But
his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and
in His Law he meditates day and night.
And
he will be like a tree firmly planted
by streams of water,
which
yields its fruit in its season,
and
its leaf does not wither;
and
in whatever he does, he prospers.
The
wicked are not so,
but
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore
the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor
sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For
the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
but
the way of the wicked will perish.
Psalm
19:14
Let
the words of my mouth
and
the meditation of my heart
be
acceptable in Thy sight,
O
LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 23
The
LORD is my shepherd,
I
shall not want.
He
makes me lie down in green pastures;
He
leads me beside quiet waters.
He
restores my soul;
He
guides me in the paths of righteousness
for His name's sake.
Even
though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I
fear no evil;
for
Thou art with me;
Thy
rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou
dost prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
Thou
hast anointed my head with oil;
my
cup overflows.
Surely
goodness and lovingkindness
will follow me all the days of my
life,
and
I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalm 32:5
I
acknowledged my sin to Thee,
and
my iniquity I did not hide;
I
said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD";
and
Thou didst forgive the guilt of my sin.
Psalm
39:5-7
Behold,
Thou hast made my days a handbreadths,
and
my lifetime as nothing in Thy sight,
surely
every man at his best is a mere breath,
surely
every man walks about as a phantom;
surely
they make an uproar for nothing;
he
amasses riches,
and does not know who will gather them.
And
now, Lord, for what do I wait?
My
hope is in Thee.
Psalm 46:1
God
is our refuge and strength,
a
very present help in trouble.
Psalm 91
He
who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD,
"My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust!"
For it is He who delivers you
from the snare of the
trapper,
and from the deadly pestilence.
He
will cover you with His pinions,
and under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
You will
not be afraid of the terror by night,
or of the arrow that flies by day;
of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
A thousand may fall at your side,
and ten thousand at your right hand;
but it shall not approach you.
You will only look on with your eyes,
and see the recompense of the wicked.
For you have made the LORD, my refuge,
even the Most High, your dwelling place.
No evil will befall you,
nor will any plague come near your tent.
For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
to guard you in all your ways.
They will bear you up in their hands,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and cobra,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample down.
"Because he has loved Me,
therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him securely on high,
because he has known
My name.
"He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him, and honor him.
"With a long life I will satisfy him,
and let
him behold My salvation."
Psalm 100
Shout
joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
Serve
the LORD with gladness;
come
before Him with joyful singing.
Know
that the LORD Himself is God;
it
is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
we
are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter
His gates with thanksgiving,
and
His courts with praise.
Give
thanks to Him; bless His name.
For
the LORD is good;
His
lovingkindness is everlasting,
and
His faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 101
I
will sing of lovingkindness and justice,
to
Thee, O LORD, I will sing praises.
I
will give heed to the blameless way.
When
wilt Thou come to me?
I
will walk within my house
in the integrity of my heart.
I
will set no worthless thing before my eyes;
I
hate the work of those who fall away;
it
shall not fasten its grip on me.
A
perverse heart shall depart from me;
I
will know no evil.
Whoever
secretly slanders his neighbor,
him
I will destroy;
no
one who has a haughty look
and
an arrogant heart will I endure.
My
eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land,
that
they may dwell with me;
he
who walks in a blameless way
is
the one who will minister to me.
He
who practices deceit
shall not dwell within my house;
he
who speaks falsehood
shall
not maintain his position before me.
Every
morning
I will destroy all the wicked of the land,
so
as to cut off from the city of the LORD
all
those who do iniquity.
Psalm 103:1-5
Bless
the LORD, O my soul;
and
all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless
the LORD, O my soul,
and
forget none of His benefits;
who
pardons all your iniquities;
who
heals all your diseases;
who
redeems your life from the pit;
who
crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
who
satisfies your years with good things,
so
that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Psalm 103:12
As
far as the east is from the west,
so
far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 119:9,11
How
can a young man keep his way pure?
By
keeping it according to Thy word.
Thy
word I have treasured in my heart,
that
I may not sin against Thee.
Psalm 121
(a
song of ascents)
I
will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from
whence shall my help come?
My
help comes from the LORD,
who
made heaven and earth.
He
will not allow your foot to slip;
He
who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold,
He who keeps Israel
will
neither slumber nor sleep.
The
LORD is your keeper;
the
LORD is your shade on your right hand.
The
sun will not smite you by day,
nor
the moon by night.
The
LORD will protect you from all evil;
He
will keep your soul.
The
LORD will guard your going out
and your coming in
from
this time forth and forever.
Psalm 139:7-16
Where
can I go from Thy Spirit?
Or
where can I flee from Thy presence?
If
I ascend to heave, Thou art there;
if
I make my bed in Sheol, Behold, Thou art there.
If
I take the wings of the dawn,
if
I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
even
there Thy hand will lead me,
and
Thy right hand will lay hold of me.
If
I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
and
the light around me will be night,"
even
the darkness is not dark to Thee,
and
the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness
and light are alike to Thee.
For
Thou didst form my inward parts;
Thou
didst weave me in my mother's womb.
I
will give thanks to Thee,
for
I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
wonderful
are Thy works,
and
my soul knows it very well.
My
frame was not hidden from Thee,
when
I was made in secret,
and
skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth.
Thine
eyes have seen my unformed substance;
and
in Thy book they were all written,
the
days that were ordained for me,
when
as yet there was not one of them.
Psalm 139:23-24
Search
me, O God, and know my heart;
try
me and know my anxious thoughts;
and
see if there be any hurtful way in me,
and
lead me in the everlasting way.

and
there be no fruit on the vines,
though
the yield of the olive should fail,

I
